Three custom die cut 'Design Nerds' created for Adobe and the Weapons of Mass Creation festival in Cleveland. Perhaps you can identify a poster nerd, a type nerd and an intern nerd?

Arcade Brewery teamed up with comic's men Tony Moore (illustrations) + Jason Aaron (words) to create a story across a six pack of beer for a highly limited release.
My work involved preparing the artwork, typesetting the story, and creating the packaging and labels for the beers.

Chicago Fire Soccer Club needed a B2B pitch to attract a jersey sponsor for their 2016 season. After examining the raw statistics provided by the club, I created a narrative based around the wide variety of markets provided by the club’s diverse fan base and the huge growth of ‘soccer’ in the US.
The deliverables were a presentation and a leave-behind; a booklet covering the main and most memorable points. Burn marks created by the laser cut process on the front cover added an extra nod to the Chicago Fire’s history.
Arcade Brewery wanted something special to commemorate the anniversary of their inauguration: this uniquely formatted poster was the result. The brewery's mascot The Brewmaster dons a suit of armour and works his way from the depths of a beer-less dungeon to an epic battle amidst the fiery clouds.
Season On The Line was a play produced and performed by The House Theatre in Chicago. An adaptation of Moby Dick, it follows an ailing theatre working on a last-ditch performance to save their company in motel.
My work on the project involved concepting and creating key art, and expanding those illustrations across a range of collateral including the program, postcards, web ads, flyers and more.
The main image is of the beleaguered director at the bottom of the pool, submerged and isolated, beneath the shadow of the motel.
The Environmental Law and Policy Centre (ELPC) held a competition to create compelling visuals to their most pressing concerns. The contest involved learning about the issues, concepting ideas on how best to explain the issues to an unaware public, and then completing a finished piece, all in a day.
My poster on the environmental and health impacts of Sulphur Dioxide won first place.
The experiential marketing firm Mosaic wanted their 2014 holiday greetings to be particularly special. I combined type illustrated with cavorting holiday makers for the front, and a hand drawn message for the interior.
This project came with some curious hurdles: Working in both English and French meant spell checking took a little longer! And the figures for the front had to be designed with animation* in mind, as an accompanying video message was created. Check it out here.

[*Please bear in mind I did not create the animation!]
A project with a soft spot in my heart, Everything Was Holding Its Breath is an anthology of poetry created by sixth graders during a poetry workshop at Langston Middle School, OH. I was asked to compile and type set their excellent work, that includes gems like 'a poem can balance a stick on a thin rope'.
When Adobe launched the Creative Cloud they created a huge and helpful tutorial database for the creative suite for all the features, new and old.
These tutorials were dressed up with appropriately wonderful illustrations by all manner of artists and illustrators from across the country. I was lucky enough to concept and complete a handful of these!

826CHI is a spy-themed writing and tutoring centre for teens and younger. They needed a poster as a promo piece for their kickstarter and this is the result: a labyrinthine spy lair complete with sneaking spies, radioactive waste and dinosaurs.

Icon Modern is a Chicago based furniture and installation company, specialising in using reclaimed materials. Each season they publish a lookbook to show off their newest furniture and installations. Unobtrusive type combined with large image size is used to give their excellent work the maximum impact.
A poster for a Roald Dahl show at Galerie F in Chicago. I felt this excerpt captured something special about this wonderful book:
...So the order went down to the farms, and that night one hundred and eight men formed a tight ring around the bottom of the hill. They had sticks and guns and hatchets and pistols and all sorts of other horrible weapons...
A poster for the short film Operator. The story follows an fire brigade response operator who answers a distressing 999 call.
Can animals from different continents converse with each other? This poster won't answer that question, but it can be used as an aid to learning the animal sounds of ten languages.
Logo design for an excellent film blog called The Blank Projector. See it in action here.
Selected work from a drinking and reading series at Chicago's (in)famous Empty Bottle.
This is a series of space Icons because icons are fun and space is great.
Drift is a short film about two homeless men, trafficked into forced labour. It was selected by DirectorsUK for the ALEXA Challenge 2015. With this poster I hoped to capture the gritty claustrophobic feel through a combination of texture, type and photography.
A Tokyo Police Club gig poster for their sold out show at Lincoln Hall, Chicago, featuring a bustling sci-fi-scape rising from a head.
This tee was created for Food Fight, an annual Chicago event where three chefs go head to head to raise funds for charity. Crossed cleavers seemed appropriate.

This tee shirt design for the band Tortoise holds a very special place in my heart: This happens to be my very first design job! While still in school, a very good friend gave me the chance to design a tee (you know who you are!). Best of all it was so popular the tees sold out in one night!
An art print for the Land of Lincoln state, Illinois, where a cavorting Lincoln flexes his muscles and flies a kite: American history as seen by a Brit. This poster is available for purchase on the Delicious Design League website here.
